Treating Low Back Pain with Acupuncture

Acupuncture can be used to treat a variety of ailments including one of the most persistent across all demographics: low back pain.

As a clinic, Acupuncture Northwest has been able to treat low back pain at a high efficacy rate. Nearly 97% of our patients have seen great improvements since beginning treatment. Most of the time low back pain is coming from tight muscles in the low back and hip, including the quadratus lumborum, piriformis, gluteus maximus, and lumbar erectors. Our methods include trigger point acupuncture for muscles that are in spasm or contracted and causing pain for a patient. Additionally, we can implement a distal needle technique that is easier to tolerate. Both treatment types work exceptionally well. We’ve also found success treating herniated discs with electro-acupuncture if the herniation is mild to moderate.

Regardless of the injury, patients will often need a series of treatments. Generally, we recommend once a week for 6 to 8 weeks. This allows the treatments to build upon each other and produce incremental progress. Your road to recovery starts now.
